Doing
and Being
When at first we encounter the notion of Being, it sounds
very spiritual, and we think that we should let go of
control and get hold of this Being somehow. We might even
attempt to stop ‘doing’ and try 'Being' instead. However,
Being in this sense is actually so comprehensive, it
includes all doing. No decision needs to be made to choose
one or give up the other.
It is seen that any sense of personal doing that arises,
any notion that the character is in charge and making
decisions is a perfect expression of Being. It turns out
that ‘doing’ was never ‘doing’ at all – it was all Being.
Being is what happens in Reality when activity takes place
without any doer. When it is noticed that that the sense of
a separate doer was a thought, or imaginary all along, it
is understood that any sense of personal doing was never
personal at all. It was just Reality doing itself.
What a relief.
